2010 Summer Taxes Now Due
The Township will collect 2010 Summer taxes through September 14, 2010. After September 14th, interest will be added for the balance of September and then monthly, until paid. Payments may be by mail, in person during posted office hours, or payments by check may be placed in the drop box next to the township office door, behind the fire garages.
TAX BILL INFORMATION
You may track your taxes and status by clicking on the "Inquire Tax Status" button to the left. Then when the new page opens, click on the "tax information search" under the CURRENT TAX on the left. You then can search by name, property address, or property code begining with 2110-. After we post tax payments, the website shows the current status within 48 hours of payment.
2010 Summer Tax Deferments
Purpose: To defer 2010 summer tax payments until February 28, 2011, without penalty. Who can apply: Those with earned income less than $40,000, and one of the following: (1) Over age 62, or unmarried widow/widower of person who was 62. or, (2) Eligible veteran, or widow/widower of a veteran. Contact Kari Shankland, Township Treasurer, for a form.
Elections
The 2010 primary election will be held on August 3, 2010, at the Township Office. Absentee ballots are now available by request.
Notice for military and overseas civilian voters
Attention military and overseas civilian voters who are eligible to register and vote in Michigan!
New state and federal laws make it easier for military and overseas civilian voters to register and participate in elections. Under the new laws, military and overseas civilian voters can now receive a ballot by e-mail or fax to speed the voting process! (The voted ballot must be returned by mail for security purposes.)
Military and overseas civilian voters interested in obtaining ballots for the elections that will be held this year must request a ballot through their local city or township clerk. Requests for absentee ballots submitted prior to 2010 are no longer valid and cannot be processed. Under the new law, requests for ballots are good for every election held in the same calendar year in which the request is received. When submitting your request, be sure to indicate whether you would like to receive your ballot by mail, e-mail or fax.
